Ingredient Deep Dive
Bee Propolis: Honeybees create bee propolis using saliva and beeswax. Humans have been using bee propolis since the ancient Egyptians figured out it was great as an embalming agent, but the uses didn’t stop there. Bee propolis was also used for its medicinal properties. At the turn of the twentieth century, bee propolis became studied once more, with at least 300 various compounds being identified thus far. Some of the beneficial compounds are: ketones, amino acids, benzoic acids, sesquiterpene and triterpene hydrocarbons, aliphatic hydrocarbons, flavonoids, and polyphenols (anticancer), as well as many more.
Bee Pollen: Bee pollen is in recorded history all the way back in 2735 BC. Not only as a nutritional source, but also therapeutically. Bees travel to collect bee pollen, and they get it from the flowers that they land on. Bee pollen contains almost all of the B vitamins, including: Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, folic acid, and carotenoids. There are essential fatty acids, trace elements, minerals, enzymes, and even amino acids in bee pollen.
Manuka Honey: Only European honeybees (Apis mellifera) that frequent the tea tree (Leptospermum scoparium) which only grows in New Zealand and southeastern Australia can create the coveted Manuka honey. True Manuka honey has to pass all five tests. The benefits of Manuka honey became heralded to naturopaths in the 1980’s, when Dr. Peter Molan scientifically proved the benefits of honey coming from this plant.
Royal Jelly: Royal Jelly (RJ) took off in ancient Greece as part of the “ambrosia,” or nectar that gave immortality to the gods on Olympus. In ancient Egypt, Royal Jelly was used like a cosmetic, most notably used by Cleopatra. In ancient Asia, China especially, Royal Jelly was used as for its medicinal properties. Royal Jelly is an acid colloid made up of water, sugar, lipids, proteins, some mineral salts, and vitamins. Royal Jelly is affected by the season and plants that are available to the bees.
Ormus: Gold has been used by nearly all major civilizations of the world to induce and promote beauty, youth regeneration, and a healthy glowing complexion. Gold, as a mineral is easily absorbed and utilized by the body, is completely non toxic, and has no known negative drug interactions with medications. The ancient romans used gold to cure skin problems, and medieval Europe used it to treat soreness and body aches.
Organic Vegetable Glycerin: Organic vegetable glycerin is a humectant, which means that it seals in moisture. It is clear, odorless, and tasteless, and extracted from plants through a process of hydrolysis.
