Meet the Herbs

In addition to coffee, the six adaptogens in this blend were intentionally chosen for potency and balance. Totaling more than 2000 mg of adaptogens per serving (raw herb equivalent), Café Rasa delivers focused and sustained energy without the crash.

While energy and stress management are the driving force of the adaptogens in this blend, many of these herbs also profoundly support improved immunity, sleep, mood, and digestion when taken regularly.

Formulated by our Chief Herbalist, Café Rasa features six adaptogens for energy: red Asian ginseng, cordyceps, rhodiola, gynostemma, shatavari, and maca, plus chicory, date seed, and burdock for that roasty, full-bodied mouth feel.

What does Café Rasa taste like?

Café Rasa is Classic Rasa plus a serving of the smoothest and most premium instant coffee available. Adaptogens soften the downsides of coffee (less stress, less jitters, better sleep!), while supplementing the fatigue-fighting abilities of caffeine.

While many of the mushroom coffees on the market use cheap spray dried coffee, with its bitterness, burnt notes, and acridity, our custom freeze-dried coffee is flavorful, rich, and complex. Our coffee comes from Chiapas, Mexico and is certified organic and Fair Trade. 60 mg of caffeine never felt smoother or more satisfying.

It took us years to perfect Café Rasa. Here’s how it went:

We spent (literally) years testing all the instant functional coffee drinks out there, and there were approximately none, zero, nilch that we willingly wanted to consume every day, let alone enjoyed enough to crave. We heard time and time again that you didn’t want that sludge at the bottom of your cup, not to mention as an herbalist-formulated brand, we cringed at the lack of bioavailability in most powdered “functional” drinks.

So we set out to do the seemingly impossible: make an instantly dissolvable adaptogen and mushroom coffee that tastes as good as it is functional. One that you crave the same way so many crave coffee when you wake up in the morning (sound familiar?).

What this entailed was far more complex than “powdering” our existing Rasa and selling it, so it took us years of development to crack the code. Our process includes brewing the Rasa over several hours like a standard Chinese decoction—a process used for millennia—then drying it and granulating it to make it supremely delicious while remaining supremely dissolvable and bioavailable.

Café Rasa FAQ

Café Rasa is instantly dissolvable—just add water! While both blends feature coffee, adaptogens, and mushrooms, some of the herbs vary. Café Rasa features red Asian ginseng, which is not used in any of our Brew line products, and is one of the most energizing of all adaptogens. Overall, Café Rasa is going to be a bit more energizing than Dirty—it has more coffee, and stronger herbs.

We recommend our Brew products as a slower morning ritual to nourish your wellbeing. Ultimately, the choice is yours, though we highly recommend having both Rasa and Rasa Brew on hand so you choose your own adventure depending on your time, needs, and cravings.

Acacia fiber is a prebiotic fiber made from the sap of acacia trees. These trees are native to North Africa, and our organic acacia fiber is from Senegal. Acacia fiber, also known as gum arabic, has been used for thousands of years in cosmetics, foods, and medicines around the world. Queen Cleopatra was even a fan—it was a main ingredient in her favorite lipstick.

Acacia fiber's modern uses are many. We use it in Café Rasa as a processing aid to help our product clump less and flow better. And it's a win-win because acacia fiber is also an excellent health-promoting dietary fiber. Plus it improves soil fertility and animal habitat.

We want that too! Here's the scoop: we literally took years to develop this product, and couldn't wait to get it into your hands. With all the work it took to perfect the product, we have not yet completed our shelf-life trials for a bulk option. We want to make sure it lasts and doesn't turn into a hard brick you can't use before we sell it to you in this way. So we made the call to get Café Rasa out into the world first in single-serve packets, and then hopefully in bulk once we confirm it can be done without sacrificing the quality of the product and your experience.

While there are waves by the shore, and the friendly wave of the hand when you're chilled out by consuming adaptogens, the waves we're referring to here are our different shipping rounds for this new product. As this is a brand new product format for Rasa with a new production process, we're rolling out shipments in waves to allow for us to scale our production mindfully. Our plan is that both Café and Classic Rasa will be available for on-demand shipping as usual at some point in the spring.

Love this coffee blend

I love that this is an instant, smooth, caramel coffee blend. Most of the time caffeine turns up my anxiety and makes it hard for me to function. This blend is the right balance and I love how fast it is to make on this busy days.

I've been using RASA products for the past few years & so far, it's still my favorite. I just started buying this one. It is my 3rd box & I love this for travel. Or for an easy morning. Sometimes I add a bit of hot chocolate to it for another added flavor. However, it is nice as it is.
